MARKET DAY  INFORMATION Blessed Sacrament offers an opportunity for families to help support the school by purchasing food products through Market Day.  Each month in the family envelope you will receive a flyer promoting their food products and specials of the month.  When purchasing these products the school receives a percentage of what is sold and this money is being used for technology updates throughout the school.  The September flyer was enclosed in your registration packet.  Please look it over and consider placing an order by Aug. 28th which is the deadline.  You can either order online or fill out the forms and return it to school.  Orders will be ready for pick up on Sept. 2nd from 7-8p.m.

WORKERS NEEDED – If you can help out on Sept. 2nd from 5:45 – 7p.m., please call the school office.

AFTER SCHOOL CARE – The After School Care Program will begin on Monday, Aug. 25th.  Mrs. Lori Moore will be the director of this program.  Please fill out your paper work and get your child/ren enrolled along with your registration fee BEFORE your child/ren  participates in the program.  The form and fee must be taken care of first before the child can participate in this program.

BEFORE SCHOOL CARE – Since this program is seldom used, 6:30-7:30a.m., we ask that you call the school at least one day in advance if your child will be using the program and arriving before 7:30a.m.

DISMISSAL INFORMATION – Please see the enclosed sheet with information on procedures for dismissal at the end of the day.

SCRIPT CARDS – I hope everyone has heard about the new Gene Grawe Script Cards that will allow parents to raise funds for tuition scholarships for the 2009-2010 school year.  This program is such a Win/Win opportunity.  By purchasing gift cards you are creating a source of revenue for next year’s tuition.  Everyone can participate even if they do not have children in a Catholic school.  When a parent enrolls in this program they are committing to selling/buying a total of $5200 of gift cards.  Do not let that amount scare you off of this program.  This amount when broken down averages to $100 per week.  Families can have extended family members buy the cards to reach the commitment.  For example: Mrs. Reichert’s parents, brothers, aunts & uncle, and friends may buy the gift cards and just write on the check her children’s name on the check or if buying with cash tell the school/church the families name.  That amount is then applied to Mrs. Reichert’s account to what she needs to sell or buy.  We have included in this week’s envelope sheets of all of the vendors who are supporting this program.  We have in the office a supply of County Market, Hy-Vee, and Walmart cards.  Each Friday an order form will be sent home through the Family Envelope.  Just fill it out, return it on Monday with your money, and then the order will be filled ASAP.

SEPTEMBERFEST – SEPT. 13 – 5:00-MIDNIGHT – GREAT FUN AND DELICIOUS FOOD!  Please help us out with advertising by putting up the enclosed flyers at your place of business or anywhere else you think of.

Enclosed is a yellow sheet indicting which class has what basket for the raffle so that your child can bring items in for their class basket.  We are also asking each family to send in one 12 pack of soda.  Have your child take the soda to the cafeteria.

If you missed the sign up sheets at registration, call the school office to see what’s available and get signed up to help out.....it would be very much appreciated!

RAFFLE TICKETS – Don’t forget to get out there and sell those raffle tickets.  If you need more they are available in the school office.

FAMILY ENVELOPES – The oldest child in each family will receive the family envelope every Friday, or on the last day of school for that week.  Please take out the contents to read, sign and return the envelope to school with your child on Monday’s.

CATHOLIC YOUTH ORGANIZATION – CYO – There is information about the CYO for all to check out enclosed in your family envelope.  There is a form enclosed for girls in 5th-8th who are interested in playing volleyball.  Please fill out your form and send to the school office along with the fee.  Students that play a sport MUST have a sports physical.

PROTECTING GODS CHILDREN – SEPT. 16TH – 6:30-9:30p.m. - The next session will be held at St. Peter in Seton Hall room #103.  Call 223-1120 (school) or 222-3155 (rectory) to reserve your spot.

EVERY parent must attend one of these session before they can volunteer in the school and work with the youth.

NEW STATE GUIDELINES ON ATTENDANCE – New guidelines have been enacted about attendance to ensure accuracy of recording school attendance.  Please read carefully – there are many changes.  A full day of attendance means a student has been in the school for 5 ½ hours of instructional time (lunch/recess does not count as instructional time).  A student will be marked Tardy if they arrive in the classroom after 8:25 but by 9:00 a.m.  A student is marked ½ Day Absent if they are only absent for a total of 2 ½ hours or less of instructional time.  A student is marked Absent for a Full Day if they miss more than 2 ½ hours of instructional time.  Checked Out for a dentist, doctor appointment may only be for 35 minutes.  If a student’s appointment takes longer than 35 minutes they are then considered ½ day absent.

MEAL PAYMENTS FOR BREAKFAST/LUNCH – When paying for lunches you may pay weekly or bi-weekly by sending the amount in a marked envelope with your family name.  Another option would be to wait until the end of each month and you will receive a bill for the amount of lunches your child has taken.  Breakfast should not be paid for in advance.  A bill for breakfasts will be included on the monthly statement that you will receive at the end of the month.   Please pay your bills each month.  We have to follow strict guidelines on our lunch program.  By paying your bill each month, we can keep the format that has been set in place.  When parents do not pay in a timely fashion, our school risks having the program discontinued.   Thanks so much for ensuring we get to keep this program by paying your bill.

DRESS CODE – Enclosed in this week’s envelope is a copy of the dress code.  Friday morning we had an assembly and part of the assembly was going over dress code.  We have enacted a new policy of informing parents about dress code infractions. A form has been created and must be signed by a parent when there is an issue regarding dress code.   It is not the intent of the staff to make the dress code a “monster” issue.  We really try to work with the students to remind them of the policy.  One major issue is the lack of respect when a teacher asks a student to tuck in their shirt or they knowingly do not tuck their shirt in.  The issue is not the shirt but the lack of respect in following the rule.   Please help the staff by trying to follow the dress code as close as possible and supporting the staff on implementing it.
